Viewtrak Technologies Inc. has executed an exclusive agreement with RMS Research Management Systems Inc. to distribute, install and service beef Computer Vision Systems in Canada. Computer Vision Systems objectively measure beef carcass ribeye area and shape, marbling percentage, fat thickness, and lean/fat color. “The CVS is an important tool for the beef cattle industry for providing objective carcass value determination” says Dr. Jake Burlet, President and CEO of Viewtrak. “This technology, which originated and was developed in Canada, is instrumental in providing the beef industry with an accurate, objective assessment of an animal’s value at slaughter. Viewtrak’s ability to link this grade and value information to Canada’s mandatory individual animal identification numbers provides a great opportunity for beef producers to target beef production to specific markets. Market development is even more critical today given the state of the Canadian beef cattle industry post Mad Cow and with the US border closed to Canadian live cattle exports” adds Burlet. CVS technology is recognized in Canada and the United States for official beef grade augmentation.
