Viewtrak Technologies Inc. has acquired Edmonton based General Computer Systems (“GENESYS”) Ltd.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.  “Genesys is the North American leader in livestock auction market software solutions covering all of the major geographic areas where cattle are raised and marketed in Canada and the United States” says Jake Burlet, President and CEO of Viewtrak.  “The addition of Genesys’ MarketMaster and DealerMaster applications will play a key role in allowing Viewtrak to provide even more comprehensive coverage of animal movements as cattle flow naturally through the auction market system”.   “Viewtrak’s ability to link information captured in the livestock auction market environment to Canada’s mandatory individual animal identification numbers provides a great opportunity for beef producers to maximize their returns by way of age and source verification.  Market development and getting the most out of animals with extensive and accurate records of production is even more critical today given the state of the Canadian beef cattle industry post BSE and with the US border closed to Canadian live cattle exports” adds Burlet.  In addition, Viewtrak can play a key role in providing traceability information in the event that new cases of BSE are discovered such as with Alberta’s most recent diagnosis.

Facilities using the MarketMaster and DealerMaster software applications handle in excess of 24,000,000 beef cattle in North America annually.  Existing Genesys customers will be provided with new capabilities and expanded products to allow greater flexibility and to provide value added services within their businesses.

Viewtrak’s Internet based systems provide easy, efficient access to detailed animal records allowing Viewtrak customers to extract the highest value for their animals.
