Edmonton, Alberta. Shineway Group of Luohe, China, has executed an agreement with Viewtrak to implement Viewtrak’s individual animal data management technology in Shineway’s 13 hog slaughtering plants. Shineway slaughtered in excess of 10,000,000 hogs in 2003 and is on target for 15,000,000 hogs by 2005.

With a focus on agribusiness and revenues in excess of CAD $2 billion/year, Shineway is on target to become the world’s largest hog processor by 2008. In addition to serving the Chinese market, Shineway operations export to Japan, Singapore, Philippines and Russia.

Viewtrak and Shineway have undertaken a large-scale project to compare Chinese hog carcasses to North American standards using Viewtrak technology. Upon completion of the project, Shineway will be implementing Viewtrak’s individual animal data management technology in its existing slaughter plants as well as incorporating Viewtrak technology in seven new plants to be constructed.

"Shineway has witnessed the damage done to agricultural industries in other parts of the world due to conditions such as Mad Cow disease."

Individual animal information is considered crucial by Shineway in protecting its business interests" adds Burlet. Shineway Group includes feed manufacturing, animal breeding, slaughtering, meat processing, retail grocery outlets and bio-pharmeutical operations.
